The line, Week 1: what the market says about Bucs at Bengals
Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay is a road underdog by three and a half points at Cincinnati, and the game's total, 50.5, is among the highest on the Week 1 board. That is where the market stands three days before the Buccaneers open their season at Paycor Stadium, kickoff 1:00 PM ET, 19:00 CEST, Sunday, September 13. Here is what the numbers say, in plain terms, and how they sit against BucsWorld's own call for this team.

The numbers

Spread

Buccaneers +3.5 (-105) / Bengals -3.5 (-115)

Moneyline

FanDuel, via Sports Illustrated Betting, September 8

Total

Over 50.5 (-112) / Under 50.5 (-108)

FanDuel, via Sports Illustrated Betting, September 8

Converted to a plain percentage, Bengals -200 implies close to a 67 percent chance Cincinnati wins outright, and Buccaneers +168 implies roughly 37 percent for Tampa Bay. Those two figures add up to more than 100 percent, which is the sportsbook's built in margin, not a claim that both outcomes have close to even odds.

58.8 (588 yds in 10 games)

Each of those three lines sits close to the player's own 2025 per game average, within a handful of yards either way. The market is not projecting a breakout or a collapse from any of them in the opener, just a game roughly like their last full season.

What the market is pricing in

Joe Burrow's own passing yard line runs to 264.5, the largest number attached to either starting quarterback this week, built on a Bengals offense with a clean injury report and both Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins available at home. BucsWorld looked at that matchup in Two No. 1 overall picks, one opener: Burrow has beaten Mayfield in all three of their previous meetings as starters, back when Mayfield was still with Cleveland.

Tampa Bay's own injury picture cuts the other way on defense. Rookie edge rusher Rueben Bain Jr. was limited in Wednesday's practice with a shoulder injury, as BucsWorld reported, putting his NFL debut in question three days out. None of the lines above were set with Friday's final injury designation in hand.

On offense, the picture points the other way. Emeka Egbuka and Jalen McMillan were both back running routes on Monday, as BucsWorld covered, after missing most of camp. Egbuka's 54.5 yard line assumes Tampa Bay's top returning target is close to full speed in the first game since Mike Evans left the receiver room.

BucsWorld's read

BucsWorld's own call has the Buccaneers finishing 10-7 and winning the NFC South this season. A 37 percent moneyline for the opener does not contradict that outright: a team can go 10-7 across seventeen games and still be an underdog in five or six of them, and a road trip to a healthy divisional-caliber opponent in Week 1 is a reasonable spot for that to happen. What would complicate the bigger picture is if Wednesday's injury report turns out to be the start of a pattern rather than a one-week story.

Every line above is a snapshot from the week of September 7 to 10, and sportsbooks will move most of them, sometimes by more than a point, before Sunday's kickoff. BucsWorld does not encourage betting on any of it; a line exists to balance action, not to forecast one specific Sunday.
