Green Bay is a 3.5-point road favorite at Tampa Bay, and the game's total of 39.5 points is low for a modern NFL Sunday. That is where the market stands three days before the 0-3 Buccaneers host the Packers at Raymond James Stadium, kickoff 1:00 PM ET, 19:00 CEST, Sunday, October 4, on FOX. Here is what the numbers say, in plain terms, and how they sit against BucsWorld's own call for this team.

Key facts

  • Green Bay is a 3.5-point favorite at Tampa Bay, Packers -3.5 (-115) and Buccaneers +3.5 (-105) (DraftKings, via Sports Illustrated Betting, September 29).
  • The game total is 39.5, Over -115 and Under -105 (DraftKings, via Sports Illustrated Betting, September 29).
  • The moneyline is Packers -198 and Buccaneers +164 (DraftKings, via Sports Illustrated Betting, September 29).
  • Jalon Daniels has a passing yards line of 170.5 (Over -114, Under -115) in his first NFL start (SportsBettingDime, September 30).

Converted to a plain percentage, Packers -198 implies about a 66 percent chance Green Bay wins outright, and Buccaneers +164 implies about 38 percent for Tampa Bay. Those two figures add up to roughly 104 percent, which is the sportsbook's built-in margin, not a claim that both outcomes can happen at those odds.

The gap between the two quarterback lines is 76 yards. Love is a veteran starter. Daniels has thrown three regular-season passes in his career and has no 2025 NFL games to measure against, so these lines rest on a very small sample, and the books price Daniels to throw at least one touchdown at -186.

What the market is pricing in

The biggest number behind the spread is the quarterback. Baker Mayfield dislocated his right thumb in the 23-16 loss to the Vikings on September 27 and is out at least three weeks, as BucsWorld reported. Undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels makes his first NFL start, and the team signed Brett Rypien, covered in our report on Daniels' backups. A 39.5 total fits an offense that is changing quarterbacks.

The receiver room is thin as well. Jalen McMillan is on injured reserve with a PCL sprain and is out six to eight weeks, per our McMillan report, and Chris Godwin Jr. did not practice Wednesday with an ankle injury, as BucsWorld covered. Godwin has 10 catches for 111 yards through three games.

Green Bay has its own list. Sports Illustrated Betting's September 29 injury section has running back Josh Jacobs on the Commissioner's Exempt List and Jayden Reed among six Packers listed as questionable. The Packers come in at 1-2 after a 35-14 loss to Atlanta, and a 3.5-point spread says the market still prices them ahead of a Tampa Bay team missing its starting quarterback. BucsWorld's read

BucsWorld's own call has the Buccaneers finishing 10-7 and winning the NFC South, laid out in our season predictions. An 0-3 start, a backup quarterback and a 38 percent moneyline do not fit that call comfortably: 10-7 now requires 10 wins from the final 14 games. The market is not saying the season is over. It is pricing this one Sunday, with Daniels starting, as a game Tampa Bay loses more often than it wins, and BucsWorld's call depends on the weeks after Mayfield's thumb heals.

Every line above is a snapshot from September 29 and 30, and sportsbooks move numbers before kickoff. BucsWorld does not encourage betting on any of it; lines move, and a line exists to balance action, not to forecast one specific Sunday.
