The Buccaneers beat the Atlanta Falcons 16-0 at home on November 1, 2026, and fantasy managers had an odd afternoon to sort through. Baker Mayfield went 0 of 3 through the air, so the points came from the ground, the kicker and the defense. Bucky Irving led all Bucs skill players with 21.0 PPR points, with Kenny Gainwell right behind him in a two-back rushing show.
Week 8 fantasy scoreboard
Week 8: Buccaneers vs Atlanta Falcons, 16-0
27 car 170 yds TD · fumble lost
4 INT · 0 pts allowed
25 car 140 yds
FG 3/3, XP 1/1
0/3 0 yds · 4 car 14 yds
Top scorers: 1. Bucky Irving (RB), 21.0 PPR. 2. Kenny Gainwell (RB), 14.0 PPR. 3. Chase McLaughlin (PK), 10.0 PPR.
Irving and Gainwell carried the offense
Irving finished with 27 carries for 170 yards and a touchdown, per the ESPN box score. He also lost a fumble, which cost him 2 points, but 17 points from yardage and 6 for the score still got him to 21.0. Because he caught nothing, his total is the same in standard, half-PPR and PPR leagues.
Gainwell did nearly as much work on the ground: 25 carries for 140 yards, no touchdown, 14.0 points. He was targeted once and did not catch the ball, so his number is also identical in every format. Between them the two backs handled 52 carries, which tells you what kind of game this was.
The kicker and the defense
Chase McLaughlin made all three field goals, with a long of 46 yards, plus his one extra point, for 10.0 points. In a game with a single touchdown, the kicker was a genuine fantasy factor. Sixteen points on the scoreboard is three field goals, one extra point and one touchdown.
The Bucs D/ST is not part of the top-three line above, but it scored 18.0 points under our scoring system, which is more than any individual player. The unit recorded four interceptions and allowed zero points, according to the box score. Alex Anzalone had two of the interceptions, and Zyon McCollum and Jacob Parrish had one each. The defense logged no sacks.
The disappointments
Mayfield finished with 1.4 points. He was 0 of 3 for 0 yards, was sacked once, and added 4 rushes for 14 yards. The box score shows no touchdowns or interceptions, and it lists no injury, so we are not guessing at a reason for the tiny passing workload.
The receivers could not help managers either. Chris Godwin Jr. and Ted Hurst III were each targeted once, caught nothing and finished with 0.0 points. With only three pass attempts by the Bucs in the box score, there was simply nothing to go around.
What it means for next week
Treat this as a game-script outlier rather than a new offensive identity. Irving is the clear lead back and a start every week, and Gainwell's 25 carries are worth noting, but a 52-carry split is unlikely to repeat, so keep Gainwell as a flex option rather than a lock. McLaughlin stays a safe kicker start. The Bucs D/ST posted a big number, but it came on four interceptions, which are hard to count on twice, so check the matchup before assuming a repeat. Mayfield and the wide receivers should not be benched on one game this lopsided alone, but wait for the official injury report and next week's matchup before making a decision.
How we score
Passing is 0.04 per yard, 4 per touchdown and -2 per interception. Rushing and receiving are 0.1 per yard and 6 per touchdown. Receptions are worth 1.0 (PPR), 0.5 (half) or 0 (standard). A lost fumble is -2 and a return touchdown is 6. Kickers get 3 per field goal, 1 per extra point and -1 per miss. The D/ST gets 1 per sack, 2 per interception or fumble recovery, 6 per touchdown, plus points-allowed tiers. Two-point conversions are not counted because they are not in the box score.
